Preston Saxton – The Miraculous Journey of Raising Identical Twins

June 29, 2023

Raising children is a rewarding and challenging journey in itself, but having identical twin toddlers adds another layer of complexity and joy. Preston Saxton, our Manager of Client Services, and his wife, Bria, welcomed twin girls Vera and Aria two years ago after a challenging, high-risk pregnancy.

Bria was hospitalized from 25 weeks until delivering the girls at 32 weeks. The twins shared the same placenta and amniotic sac, which posed a high risk of twin-to-twin transfusion and cord entanglement. The doctors at Magee Hospital monitored the twins closely with at least three NSTs a day.

After birth, the twins spent a little over a month in the NICU. While the experience was challenging, it also proved to be a blessing in disguise. This allowed Bria to heal at home, and the NICU nurses created feeding schedules and routines for the girls, making it easier for Preston and Bria to care for them once they came home. That’s when the magic was able to fully begin.

Over the past two years, the most joyous aspect of parenthood for Preston and Bria has been watching their daughters care for one another. Both girls enjoy the same toys and foods, and they work together as a team. They bring each other blankets before bed, share snacks and even work through problems together, without interference from their parents.

Preston and Bria have loved watching their girls grow into unique individuals as well. As the toddlers step into their own personalities, Preston and Bria find that Aria is sweet, caring and loving, whereas Vera is bold, independent and daring.

Preston finds it incredible watching them interact with one another and entertaining to observe their own unique language. Despite not understanding it himself, it’s evident that they completely understand each other.

One of the most challenging aspects of raising twins has been ensuring quality time together as a family and as a couple. The key, according to Preston, is spending time together with his wife, Bria, while leveraging family support to watch the kids. He emphasizes the importance of carving out time for himself, as well as with Bria, regardless of the number of children in their family.

Preston notes that his work-life balance has remained stable thanks to internal adjustments and working for an incredible company. Thanks to Pinnacle’s commitment to family, Preston is able to live a balanced life, which has created a happiness he is forever grateful for.

Preston’s advice for parents expecting twins is to embrace every stage of their childhood because it’s a fleeting time that will never come back.
